Because change is scary. And if you're "wrong" about being trans or your gender/understanding of your gender changes later . . . good for you for thinking intentionally about your gender (if that makes sense). I know someone who thought they were trans a few years ago, and then realized that they weren't, and it wasn't a big deal at all, we just went back to using their old name and pronouns. And if later, you decide that maybe trans isn't the right label for you, that doesn't make how you feel right now any less real. Hope this helps, I'm sick and idk how much sense any of this makes.

If you don't feel that you're ready, don't force yourself to come out. Even if you do decide to come out and then later realize you're actually a woman, a real friend would support that. Hope everything works out no matter what you decide to do! *Insert virtual support here* <3
