Hey y’all, did you hear? Google decided to remove Pride Month from their calendar. 🤦Yeah, apparently it’s now a “manual addition” because nothing says inclusivity like making the LGBTQIA+ community do extra work just to be recognized!
I mean, I get it, maybe Google’s trying to be more “efficient,” but isn’t that the opposite of Pride? Pride is about visibility, standing up, and feeling proud to be who you are. Now it’s like, “Hey, want to celebrate? Just remember to bring your own pride sticker and add it yourself!”
I imagine someone at Google HQ, sweating over their code, thinking, “Did we forget something?” and someone in the back goes, “Oh, just tell users to add Pride Month manually. That’ll show we’re ‘inclusive’… in a ‘DIY’ kind of way! Not DEI, DIY.”
I can just picture the Google team scrambling: “Quick, blame it on Trump! ‘It’s his fault we had to manually add Pride Month, he’s in the calendar now!’” Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if somewhere in the fine print it says, “Pride Month removed due to policies by Trump.”
And let’s be real, if Trump had his own calendar, I bet it’d be all about golf and tweets, with maybe a little space for “Pride Month” but only if it came with a “Make Pride Great Again” hat. Imagine him saying, “We’re gonna make Pride Month big again, folks, bigger than ever and you gotta add it yourself, because we’re cutting the red tape!”
And as someone who’s not the most tech-savvy, I can’t help but think: Imagine trying to explain that to your grandx. “Grandx, to celebrate Pride, you gotta go into Google Calendar, click ‘Add,’ then find Pride Month. It’s like a digital scavenger hunt!” 😓
But hey, maybe it’s a clever move. 🤓 Now, Pride Month becomes a community project. Everyone gets to feel like they’re part of the process 🤪 kind of like building a pride float, but in your digital calendar. “Look, honey, I added Pride Month! It’s a real team effort!”
All in all, it’s a reminder that sometimes, the simplest gestures mean the most. Recognition shouldn’t be a manual task, it should be automatic, like breathing or my love for Discord.
Thanks, Google 😒 you’ve officially made celebration a little more... manual. But don’t worry, folks, the pride’s still there 🤬 just a little more DIY this year!
