How do you explain to someone that “please don’t refer to me as a girl” also means “please don’t refer to me as a lady, woman, gal, or any other term that was designed exclusively to refer to females”?

One of my extended family members actually seems to be trying to understand, but he seems to think I just want to be referred to differently because I think it’s cool??? He doesn’t seem to understand that the point is actually *I am a different gender now.*

I don’t know how much the social construct of gender had become separated from sex at this time period, but it seems somewhat likely. In any way, it still could’ve also been an intersex person who was seen as a third gender by society.

My mom’s gentle parenting was so helpful in minimizing my trauma from growing up AuDHD in a neurotypical world. She didn’t allow anyone to force me to do things that caused me sensory overload. She didn’t punish me for having meltdowns as if they were tantrums. Even though I wasn’t officially diagnosed until age 11, she understood that I was inherently different rather than broken and in need of fixing.

She slowly began to teach my dad how to be a patient, gentle parent too, but he occasionally lapses into the “well, back in my day, kids were hit if they talked back” attitude.

The police guy is going to ruin my family relationshipssss. 😡

Aghhh I hate my town’s head of police now. He made a speech about how “parents should discipline their kids harder” and how “gentle parenting is bad for child development”

I’ve tried that method before. It didn’t actually work for me, but I never noticed any problems.

It seems fine if it’s just regular clothing layered in a specific way.

Lmao I got teased by a bunch of guys at school who don’t know I’m trans because I have a “girly name.”

Regular books when I’m lucky enough to have a decent attention span, and fanfiction when I’m not.

Is that widely used?

I don’t think so, mainly because I don’t see trans- terms other than transmasc and transfem being widely used. Most people I know offline just call themselves nonbinary/androgynous, etc.
