Hi! So, as many of you are aware, this wiki has a rule around "special" text. If you are unaware, here is the rule in question: (copied from the Wiki Policies Page)
All forms of posting on this wiki--discussions posts, message walls, article comments, ect--are required to include a trigger/content/sensory warning and "space" if they include any content of:
Bold ("bolded") or italic ("italics") text
Words written only in capital letters ("caps") when not called upon by the capitalization rules of the given language
The alternating of capital and lowercase letters when not called upon by the capitalization rules of the given language (e.g. "eXamPLe")
Many people have taken issue with this rule in the last few months, When the rule was implemented, we had many users who were accommodated by this guideline. This policy was made over a year ago, and since then, most of those users have since left.
Me and fellow mods/admins discussed this, and we think it's time to revisit this rule. We decided that italic text will be removed no matter what, unless there's major pushback. We also talked about having a rule about how much caps lock can be used without a warning, for example, any post with more than five words of caps must have a warning, so that will be reflected in the voting options.
I would like to mention that the rule about alternating text was meant to ease interaction for people who use screen readers, since the text could read as: "E. Capital X. A, M. Capital P...".
Anyways, to vote on this rule, please respond with one of these answers:
-Only the rule around bold text should be removed
-Only the rule around caps should be removed
-Only the rule around italics should be removed
-Only the rule around alternating text should be removed
-Caps should be allowed without a warning, unless it surpasses a certain limit
-A combination of above statements
-The rules around "Special Text" should be removed entirely
-None of the rules should be removed
You can change the wording of the statements, but answers with vague wording, such as "I don't like the rules" or "I could understand if the rules are kept", will not be counted. If you want to change your vote, report your original vote and create a new reply. Votes from users that haven't posted in over a month before making the vote won't be counted.
That's it! I'm interested in seeing folk's thoughts on this. This post will be kept open for three days, then the post will be locked and the votes will be counted. Byeee!!
