Fairvic, also known as Fairvinian and Fairvincian is a label exclusive to nonhumans who are (or used to be) of the Fair Folk (all fey creatures, including things like nymphs and dryads, except for fictional ones) that is unique to each individual and intrinsically tied, related to and affected by one’s fey nature.[1]

As a gender, it is best described as an amalgamation of Faevic and Faergender; A feeling of gender intrinsically tied not only to the individual’s fey nature, and therefore inhuman understanding of their gender, but also to their unique self as a fey. For example, if the individual is a green forest nymph with a connection to birds, their gender may feel feathered, light, airy, spring-like, wild and mysterious (or any number of things, pertaining to the individual’s unique self). Essentially, it has less to do with the actual specific feeling of the gender, and more so to do with the uniqueness of the gender and its relationship to the individual and their fey nature. [1]

Outside of use as a gender, the term can be used to describe one’s identity, “ethnicity”, sense of self or self-perception.[1] Essentially, Fairvic is a term used to describe oneself when describing oneself isn’t wholly possible.[2] As fey folk may not wish to be fully perceived (many do not), but still in some way wish convey some sort of identity or sense of self, this term allows that without dictating specifics.

This means it can also be used as a term to describe one’s whole self, including their presentation, romantic or sexual orientation, and possibly even spiritual beliefs as being intrinsically unique to them as a person and as a fey creature.

Definition of Exclusivity[]

This label is exclusive to feykin and fey folk of all extant & extinct kinds, including nymphs, changelings, dryads, pixies, leprechauns, certain kinds of elves and so forth. It does not encompass any kintypes of fey or fey-like species from media, nor any kintypes of fey that the kinner perceives the species of as fictional or fake.[2]

Fairvic is exclusive to individuals who *are* or *used to be* any kind of fey creature. This does *not* include spiritual/past life experiences where the kind of fey is false (either by the kinner’s perception/belief, or because it is from some form of media) and does not include any psychological experiences where the kind of fey is false (either by the kinner’s perception/belief, or because it is from some form of media).

Etymology & Meaning[]

Fairvic takes its name from an older term used to describe fey creatures (the Fair Folk, often in an attempt at politeness for fear of fey-initiated chaos.[2] Fairvinian and Fairvincian hold the same meaning, with the difference in suffix that orientates the word more towards sounding like an ethnic descriptor. (Think of nationalities that end in -ian; Australian, Indian, Italian, and so on)

Since not all fey creatures may wish to be called “fey”, using the prefix “fair” makes it easier to use. However, if you feel that “fair” is too close to “fairy” and don’t wish to call yourself as such, the prefix of all three words can easily be replaced with “fey”. [2]
