The Alibinary System, or TAS, is a system of terms used to describe the difference of a non-binary relationship compared to the relationships of those in the gender binary.
There are four categories of alibinary terms: viabinary, mesobinary, ideobinary, and exobinary.
If a one's gender is an experience of all four of categories simultaneously, it is called oiaspec.
The Viabinary Spectrum[]
The Viabinary Spectrum or Viabinary (or TVS) is used to categorize the experiences of some non-binary people. It refers to people with identities which are related/similar to a binary gender, even though they are non-binary.
Both miaspec and fiaspec are viabinary genders.
Viabinary was originally coined on June 25, 2018 by Tumblr user Nbandproud.[2] Then on March 24, 2019, miaspec and fiaspec were coined by momma-mogai-sphinx.[3][4] However the intent of viabinary has changed since the original coinage (see above).

The Mesobinary Spectrum[]
The Mesobinary Spectrum or Mesobinary (or TMS) is used to categorize the experiences of non-binary people whose gender identity/identities involve both, being inbetween, relate to, or similar to being both binary genders.
A subset of TMS, that can also double as an alternative name, is liaspec.
Mesobinary was coined by June 25, 2018 by Tumblr user Nbandproud.[2] Then on March 24, 2019, liaspec was coined by momma-mogai-sphinx.[3][4] However the intent of mesobinary has changed since the original coinage (see above).[6]

The Ideobinary Spectrum[]
The Ideobinary Spectrum or Ideobinary (or TIS) is used to categorize the experiences of some non-binary people in the way that relies on binary-related concepts without being directly connected to the binary. There is some overlap between ideobinary and viabinary, but not as much of an overlap compared to ideobinary and The Aspect-Aligned Gender Spectrum (in which they are practically the same thing).
Fideospec and mideospec are both ideobinary genders.[8]

The Exobinary Spectrum[]
The Exobinary Spectrum or Exobinary (or TES) is used to categorize the experiences of some non-binary genders. It refers to people with genders that are completely outside of or independent of the gender binary or anything related to it.
Under the exobinary spectrum (exospec/abiaspec) umbrella you have: niaspec, agiaspec, aiaspec, and some xiaspec genders.[10]
Exobinary was coined by June 25, 2018 by Tumblr user Nbandproud.[2] Niaspec, agiaspec, aiaspec, and xiaspec were coined by momma-mogai-sphinx on March 24, 2019 and the flags were created on October 2, 2019.[11] However the intent of exobinary has since changed to a different definition (see above).

History[]
The Alibinary System was coined on June 25th, 2018 by Nbandproud.[2] The system originally was based on what kinds of issues one faced because of their gender identity.
TVS was originally meant to represent having those whose identities are doubted, ignored, looked down upon, being alienated from common non-binary depictions, being seen as binary within non-binary spaces, and being treated as a “self hating” and/or “wanting to escape cis/male privilege”.[13]
TMS was originally meant to represent people with identities involving both binary genders and/or being in-between those genders who experience: bigots pushing the idea that binary genders are opposite and can't ever be both, transphobes trying to decide which half of gender they should ignore, and/or the exclusion of spaces/labels specific to demigenders (or any gender similar).[14]
TIS was originally meant to represent people with identities that rely on masculinity/femininity or other “projections” of binary ideas, without being (necessarily) close to binary genders that experience: People pushing the idea that something that an identity related to masculinity, femininity or that otherwise implies a connection to binary genders are similar or the same as a binary gender. Also said people being ignored or left behind in the dust, as well as having trouble figuring out how to present within their alignment without seeming binary.[15]
TES was originally meant to represent those whose gender(s) is completely outside and/or independent of the gender binary or anything related to it that experience: others doubting their existence, other people overlooking their gender expressions, or others who doubt their dysphoria because it doesn’t fit a “male, female, masculine, feminine or in-between those” restriction.[16]
Somewhere down the line these definitions changed. It is unclear as to why or how that happened. One can only really assume it may have been misunderstood when added to a wiki somewhere and then those definitions were then adopted by other wikis.
On the 24th of June 2020, Tumblr user, the-gender-collector-emself made four different flags for the subcategories of The Alibinary System.[17]
On November 18th of 2021, Reddit user, mossyfaeboy made some flags for the system and its subcategories.[1]
