Gender bender is an informal term used to refer to a person who actively transgresses, or "bends," expected gender roles and presentation. This is usually achieved by combining masculine and feminine attributes in unexpected ways.[1]
In some contexts, 'gender bender' is seen as an insult. This term should only be used for people who have stated they are comfortable with it.[2]
