Gender Wiki

Kitsunegender is a xenogender identity in which one's gender is strongly connected to the mythical yōkai kitsune. There are multiple further definitions:

  1. One's gendered connection may relate to the mystic, trickster nature of kitsune in Japanese folklore. The kitsune may shape or portray their gender. It may or may not also be related to foxes, yokai, mischief, shapeshifting, and/or possession.[2]
  2. One's gender is related to kitsunes and/or other nine-tailed foxes and/or the mythology behind them, as well as feeling mischievous, wise and/or magical. [3]
  3. One's gender may simply be described as kitsune-like.[3]
  4. A kingender identity in which one's gender is connected to kitsune due to their kintype. (Kitsunegender is not exclusively a kingender.)[1]

One may use any of these definitions, or any combination of them; or, they may choose to use only the primary definition of being related to kitsune.

It is important, when using this gender, to be respectful of its origins in Japanese culture. If necessary, one may want to research the folklore of the kitsune.[2]
